Los Padres National Forest Officials Seek Comments on Ecological Restoration Project
On Friday, Los Padres National Forest (LPNF) officials encouraged interested members of the public to comment on the scope of the LPNF’s ecological restoration project, which is proposed in four of the LPNF’s five Ranger Districts.
The goal of this project is to restore fire-adapted ecosystems, reduce fuels, and reintroduce fire to the landscape through prescribed burning on approximately 235,495 acres of LPNF-administered lands in Kern, Monterey, San Luis counties Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura.
This solicitation of public comment helps serve the purpose of “scoping” under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of the Environmental Quality Council.
The Forest Service requests that all comments be submitted by August 28. Written comments may be submitted electronically to https://cara.fs2c.usda.gov/Public//CommentInput?Project=62369.
Written comments may also be directed to the Office of the Supervisor, Los Padres National Forest, Attn: Kyle Kinports, 1980 Old Mission Drive, Solvang, CA 93463. Commenters are requested to indicate the name of the project, “LPNF Ecological Restoration Project” on envelope and letter.
