UPSC CSE Mains GS III article analysis: topical issues dominated the article

UPSC completed the General Studies Exam III of the Civil Service Main Exam 2021 on January 9. According to students and experts, the article was largely focused on the economy with more questions being asked on current events of the past five years.

In the economic section, the static parts were well covered with questions asked about agriculture, irrigation and land reforms. Questions on current affairs dating back 4 to 5 years were asked, such as the methodology for calculating the 2015 GDP and the 2013 Food Security Law.

“The newspaper was largely based on current events. However, this year the focus has been less on the science and technology section. In the environment and ecology section, current affairs focused on issues of the UNFCCC COP and WHO air quality guidelines, etc. , said the founder of Civilsdaily.

There were surprisingly more questions from the Homeland Security section. About 5 questions were asked on various topics in this section. Themes from the previous year’s document such as terrorism, insider threats, cyber attacks and money laundering were also repeated this year.
